Job Summary:
Manages clinical documentation improvement(CDI) processes and other associated activities. Provides program support and supports CDI leadership in addition to addressing ambulatory, OP CDI, and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking initiatives. Provides clinical data analysis and identifies opportunities, and provides enterprise reporting. Serves as subject matter expert in supporting other network managers and administrative reporting needs.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) OR Medical graduate, Foreign Medical graduate: Required
- Master's Degree in hospital or business administration: Preferred
- Three years' clinical experience and four years’ of working as clinical documentation specialist experience: Required
- Three years of CDI specific Leadership experience (Supervising and managing CDI Team): Required
- Data analysis experience and other CDI related system experience: EPIC, Cerner, or similar EMR, 3M-360: Required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) degree, or MBBS or MD or equivalent medical degree: Required
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP): Required
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner Certificate (DIP): Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical license MD (MD): Required
Essential Functions:
- Supports CDI leadership in additional to addressing ambulatory, OP CDI, and KPI tracking initiatives. Develops annual team performance targets, acknowledges results, and implements corrections as needed to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Assists with development and implementation of ongoing clinical documentation improvement (CDI) audits of medical records to verify compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) coding and documentation guidelines. Monitors and disseminates regulatory changes impacting CDI.
- Supports timely, accurate, and complete documentation of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and facility outcomes.
- Contributes to design, implementation, training, and ongoing evaluation of the CDI team and their processes.
- Reviews and revises CDI policies and job descriptions annually, or as needed. Enforces policies, procedures, and guidelines ensuring timely and accurate operations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
