Senior Operations Lead - R&D - Huxley IA
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Senior Operations Lead for the R&D efforts in Huxley; you will manage a combination of people leads and individual contributors (4-6 Operations Managers & Operations Associates) as well as indirect leadership for the Production Technicians, Reliability Engineers and seasonal contractors. This could total up to 50 total employees. This team is responsible for deliverer of on-time and high-quality pre-commercial seed product while ensuring appropriate regulatory controls with that seed. In this position, you will be a member of the Site Leadership Team and will be responsible for forecasting, developing and executing all operational plans for the facility.
You will work onsite (day shift) in this role at the Huxley site and may travel surrounding production field locations periodically. This role will report to the Site Lead.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Operations Lead , are to:
Create and support a safety-first culture;
- Lead, coach, develop and support a team of people leads and individual contributors (4-6 Operations Managers & Operations Associates) as well as indirect leadership of individual production contributors at the site;
- Be accountable for safe and timely delivery of quality regulated seed supply based on production schedules while maintaining an efficient operation;
- Support overall site Key Metrics including Safety, Quality, Total Overall Volume Performance (TOP), and cost efficiency;
- Be responsible for developing, implementing, and leading a working environment that provides team members a high level of empowerment with opportunities for personal and professional development and promotes the building of working relationships with other groups;
- Work within a matrixed environment with key stakeholders to drive strategy as well as operational excellence to meet key operational targets;
- Be a member of the Site Leadership Team, leading the team and supporting all site operations;
- Deliver results through high personnel proficiency, delegation of tasks, coordinating the work of others, developing/coaching others, developing the team and collaborating regionally to innovate and improve processes;
- Position entails frequently driving a pooled car as part of your job duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Strong background in engineering, supply chain, agriculture or bio research;
- Strong previous people leadership experience;
- Cross-functional and team-based project experience;
- History of success establishing and maintaining effective relationships;
- Valid driver’s license. Driving record (MVR) will be evaluated at time of hire and periodically reviewed. Candidate/Employees must meet and maintain safety guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Drivers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD with at least 3 years of related experience OR Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience;
- Preferred degree fields are Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Agriculture or Business;
- Previous experience establishing/managing processes to meet internal and external regulatory compliance requirements is strongly preferred;
- Experience with creating or implementing data visualization tools such as Spotfire/PowerVI;
- Experience with ISO/Quality Management systems preferred.
