Job Description Summary
We invite applications from qualified adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate-level courses in the BS-AHIA (Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Intelligence and Administration) program (fully online/remote, accelerated format). Job Description
MUSC is a nationally-recognized academic health sciences center committed to excellence in teaching, research, and patient-care innovation. The BS-AHIA (Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Intelligence and Administration) is a fully online, accelerated degree-completion program designed for working adults and nontraditional learners preparing for leadership roles in AI-enabled healthcare environments. The program emphasizes artificial intelligence integration, data literacy, health informatics, healthcare technology, and ethical decision-making in healthcare settings. The curriculum embeds AI and advanced digital tools across all courses to prepare graduates for careers in health informatics, data analytics, health information management, and technology-focused leadership roles in the healthcare industry.

The adjunct faculty for the BS-AHIA program will join a dynamic team that bridges academic rigor and real-world health informatics practice, supporting learners as they move into roles that drive data-informed innovation and technological advancement in healthcare.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as an instructor for one or more BS-AHIA courses per academic year (typically 2-3 courses per year for adjunct status)
• Deliver high-quality online instruction with intentional integration of artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools, including lectures (asynchronous), discussion facilitation, assignment design, assessment, and feedback
• Model ethical and responsible use of AI in teaching, learning activities, and student assessments
• Maintain virtual office hours and respond to student inquiries in a timely manner • Monitor student engagement and performance in an accelerated, online format; intervene or refer to program support as needed
• Collaborate with the division director and other faculty to ensure course content is current, evidence-based, AI-informed, and aligned with student learning outcomes
• Participate in faculty orientation/training for online pedagogy, accelerated instruction, and AI-integrated teaching; abide by university policies on academic integrity, accessibility, and teaching best practices
• Engage in periodic program reviews and mentor students in assigned courses, particularly adult learners and nontraditional students
• Adjunct faculty may also serve as mentors or advisors for applied projects, supporting students through health intelligence analysis, capstone projects, and professional development processes
Minimum Qualifications:
Faculty teaching undergraduate coursework must have earned a master's degree or higher in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Therefore, the minimum qualifications for this adjunct appointment are:
Master's degree or higher in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
