DEPT® AI

This role will play a key role within DEPT®/AI. DEPT®/AI has a single mission: to make the best work in the industry using AI to enhance everything we do. This role sits within our Global Data & AI practice, which has deep expertise in leveraging AI. The team includes data strategists, consultants, data scientists and analysts that work alongside DEPT® teams around the world across different services - from commerce, to full-funnel media, content engineering to internal operations. You will be solving some of the hardest and most challenging problems facing some of the best loved brands in the world - and doing this alongside an experienced team.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Software Engineer to work with our clients to shape business and product strategy. You are comfortable with presenting your approach to Product Managers, Engineers, Marketing, Sales, Finance and working with them to execute a data-driven business process. At DEPT®, we pride ourselves on our pragmatic, engineering approach to making data work for the business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build customized solutions for our clients focused on data, pipelines, reporting, and dashboards. You will also work closely with Data Analysts and Data Scientists in this role. 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Ability to realign client expectations when challenges arise (delays, change in scope, etc.)
  • Proactively, and independently able to research knowledge needed to perform tasks (i.e., knows when to ask for help, and doesn't spend significant time on already-solved issues)
  • You have the ability to identify potential technical solutions that apply to an internal/client situation (i.e., ability to connect technical solutions to a business need).
  • You enjoy working with peers / new hires to help them understand and apply best practices
  • You can prioritize multiple tasks and communicate the overall status of a project.
  • You enjoy participating in technical design of systems, schemas, or pipelines and offer sound guidance

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience as a data software engineer with Python in a production level setting
  • 3+ years with several of the following:
    • Command Line Experience (Bash, ZSH, or similar)
    • Experience with Git and CI/CD Environments
    • Operating Systems – e.g. Linux and/or MacOS
    • Some experience with any technologies a plus: Airflow, Docker, GCP/AWS, Kubernetes
    • Other languages a plus —e.g. Javascript, Typescript, Java, C++, Scala
    • Database Management Systems are a plus—e.g. Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Postgres/Redshift, mySQL, Oracle, MS SQL
  • Strong communication experience with 3+ years of internal and external client communication.
  • Strong ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • 2+ years of professional software and consulting experience; preferably client facing
  • 2+ years working in team development environments with collaborative codebases

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000 - $150,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
