TEAM OVERVIEW:

Our Prime Services desk provides a suite of solutions to sophisticated institutional clients like hedge funds, asset managers, and family offices. Think of us as their central access point to a wide range of execution, clearing, financing, and reporting services across various asset classes. Specifically, we facilitate their trading and post-trade activities in:

• Cleared Listed Derivatives: Exchange-traded futures and options across equities, fixed income, commodities, and FX. This involves understanding exchange rules, margining methodologies, and the lifecycle of these instruments.
• Cleared OTC Derivatives: Over-the-counter derivative contracts (like swaps) that are cleared through central counterparties (CCPs). This requires knowledge of clearing workflows, regulatory reporting obligations (e.g., EMIR, Dodd-Frank), and the nuances of different OTC product types.
• FX Prime Broking: Providing clients with access to multiple FX execution venues through a single prime broker relationship. This demands familiarity with FX market structure, liquidity providers, settlement processes, and prime brokerage specific functionalities like credit management and aggregation.
• LME Metals: Facilitating trading and clearing of base and precious metals traded on the London Metal Exchange. This includes understanding LME market conventions, warehousing, warranting, and the unique aspects of physical commodity trading.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Senior Java Engineer you will join an international team working for one of the biggest global banks. This is a complex, long-term project with high visibility, demanding time-lines and high delivery expectations. For our technology team, we're seeking individuals who not only possess strong technical skills but also bring a solid understanding of these business domains. Ideally, candidates will have hands-on experience with systems and workflows related to at least one, if not more, of these areas. This could include:

• Experience working with trading platforms, order management systems (OMS), execution management systems (EMS), and post-trade processing systems relevant to these asset classes.
• Familiarity with clearing house interfaces, margin calculations, and settlement processes.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and data models associated with derivatives and securities trading.
• Exposure to FIX protocol and other relevant market data and connectivity standards.

While deep technical expertise is crucial, the ability to understand the business logic, data flows, and regulatory drivers within these Prime Services areas is what truly sets candidates apart. It allows our technologists to contribute meaningfully to system design, problem-solving, and the delivery of innovative solutions that directly address the needs of our clients and the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be a proactive, self-starting developer who can quickly understand the requirements, technology platform and external integrations and start designing and contributing to the delivery.
• Face-off and partner with stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver solutions – deep understanding of the problem and context along with ownership are key to be successful in this role.
• Liaise with DevOps and wider team to effectively manage resource usage.
