Summary
Utilities Crew Leader, under the general supervision of the Foreman, leads the field work of utility crews; completes utility crew paperwork; operates heavy equipment; installs, maintains, and repairs water & wastewater infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides supervision and training for assigned crew members
• Plans, coordinates, and orders the necessary parts, supplies, and equipment for assigned work orders
• Inspects all equipment before use and reports problems to supervisor or to fleet maintenance
• Ensures that all safety policies are adhered to, safety equipment inspected and used, and that PPE is properly utilized
• Prepares work orders, documenting parts, hours, equipment used and all other pertinent data in the work order management system
• Performs all duties of a Utility Technician as needed
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of in utilities or related field
• Demonstrated leadership skills
Certifications and Licenses
• Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement upon hire or advancement
• TCEQ License C Water and Collection II upon hire.
• Equipment Preventative Maintenance (8 hours) within one (1) year of hire / advancement
• Work Traffic Control / Qualified Flagger (16 hours) within one (1) year of hire / advancement
