Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Assistant Director for Clubs and Organizations to join the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) Center for Student Engagement (CSE). This pivotal role involves developing, implementing, and advising student leadership programs, strategic initiatives, and assessments related to student clubs, programming, and resources, all within the framework of Civic Learning, Democratic Engagement (CLDE), and Inclusion, Diversity, Accessibility, and Equity (IDEA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision, Risk Management, and Event Advisement:
    Oversee campus-wide events and programs sponsored by ASUN, ensuring proper risk management and advisement.
    Chair the Student Events Advisory Board, managing all risk and liability issues associated with student events.
    Act as the primary liaison with campus administration, the City of Reno, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance, safety, and legal considerations at student events. Negotiate between student clubs and external organizations to foster positive relationships and prevent liabilities.

  • Advising and Compliance:
    Advise the ASUN Clubs and Organizations Board, which includes appointed officers of the Associated Students, the Director of Clubs and Organizations, and university-recognized clubs and organizations.
    Serve as the primary advisor for campus-wide programming decisions in the absence of the Associate Director, Student Government.
    Monitor programs and services such as Pack Life event submissions, campus programming, clubs and organizations, and the Student Event Advisory Board.

  • Supervision and Training:
    Supervise student employees, including Clubs and Organizations assistants.
    Hire, train, and evaluate student staff, fostering their growth and development.
    Develop and implement strategic plans, student club development programs, and assessments to enhance clubs, programming efforts, and resources.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of related professional experience OR

Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related professional experience.

Related Experience: Advising and working with college students or related experience.
