Adjunct Professor Speech Communications - UTS

The Victoria and Thomas Martin School of Arts and Humanities has periodic openings for part-time,
adjunct faculty to teach in the Communication program. The primary responsibility would be to teach
COMM 221 Speech Communication. As part of its commitment to academic excellence, the
University maintains a pool of skilled instructors who can contribute to students' success through
engaging and effective teaching.
Position Overview:
Adjunct instructors in Communication teach primarily COMM 221, an introductory speech course
designed to familiarize students with workable methods for planning, preparing, and delivering
speeches. Courses may be offered face-to-face, hybrid, online, or at off-campus locations
depending on the University's needs.

Teach courses on-campus, off-campus, or online as assigned.
Work with the program coordinator to ensure consistent and appropriate student learning.
Utilize the College's learning management system (Canvas) to assess student projects and record grades.
Respond to emails/messages in a timely manner.
Complete all required reports, such as early grade alerts, midterm grades, and final grades.

Required level/type of experience and/or years of experience

Proven record of quality instruction.

Preferred level/type of experience and/or years of experience

Experience teaching college-level speech.
Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
