The Personal Care Business Unit, R&D Packaging team, is seeking a dynamic and flexible team player.  The primary purpose of this role is to develop packaging, based on consumer insight & market requirements globally. This position will provide packaging options and develop packaging, using leading edge technology, to support new global & regional development initiatives. This position will also support existing businesses through packaging revisions, cost improvement projects, and packaging simplification projects. You must bring the necessary technical skill/expertise, passion for winning and project management rigor to deliver packaging innovation projects and related workstream activities in a dynamic environment and on time in full. Key packaging workstream activities include leading packaging development deliverables, partnering with cross functional teams, leading packaging factory and supplier trials, and laboratory testing. Effective communication skills are key to this position.
                                                                                                                     

Who You Are & What You’ll Do:
The individual will be responsible for the design and delivery of primary and secondary packaging for innovation, renovation, sustainability, and cost savings initiatives.  You will manage multiple development projects and prioritize tasks based on timelines.  You will author packaging specifications for primary and secondary packaging, request and approve BOM’s, and input into the artwork development process for the Personal Care Category.  You will use simulation tools and perform physical functional testing to validate the packaging you develop. You will deliver effectively in a cross-functional team environment by working with Brand, Planning, Formulation, Procurement, Quality, and many external suppliers.  The position will also interface with Supply Chain for manufacturing scale-up including line trials, production start-ups, cost savings, and improving line efficiency. The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams is essential.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
B.S. Degree in Packaging Science, or Engineering equivalent with 0 - 3 years practical experience, including Co-ops and internships, in the packaging field.
Basic technical competence and packaging component knowledge and experience in rigid packaging (bottles, closures, dispensers) and flexible packaging.
Basic Supply Chain knowledge related to packaging filling lines and Packaging QA.
Must demonstrate understanding of package development process and engineering principles.  
Must demonstrate the ability to design and develop primary and secondary packaging components, with appropriate guidance, that meet consumer, brand, customer, and manufacturing objectives. 
Must be able to demonstrate a general understanding of project management to realize the order, importance, and impact of appropriate project activities and maintain packaging commitments to project scheduling.
Must have a basic understanding of consumer, business, and category needs and the relationship to packaging decisions & execution. An entrepreneurial mindset is beneficial. 
Must be able to communicate issues effectively to technical and non-technical personnel. (Brand, Finance, Creative, Manufacturing)
Must have operable computer software skills and sound knowledge to navigate digital systems – Microsoft office-Word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.; SAP PLM and Teamcenter/Active Workspace experience.
