Job Summary: Responsible for the receiving and distribution of incoming freight and equipment and the distribution of inventoried supplies to the hospital and related organizations. Manages and ensures the effective and efficient distribution of supplies and equipment. Plans, establishes and implements goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the department. Directs the activities of the Supply and Distribution staff toward providing the hospital and related organizations with timely and accurate delivery and distribution of supplies and equipment.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: 5 - 7 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. ability to administer/supervise departmental operations including budgeting, staffing, and interdepartmental relations. Ability to perform and interpret automated word processing, database, order entry, and spreadsheet programs. Ability to demonstrate self-initiative and motivation. Ability to provide leadership, improve performance, accept challenges, and maintain composure in stressful situations. Demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information and hospital sensitive information. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Operates, directs, and supervises the Supply and Distribution department staff including scheduling and assigning the staff to their daily position responsibilities and ensure their training and compliance with all policies and procedures. Administers receiving and distribution of incoming freight and equipment and the distribution of inventoried supplies to using departments in a timely and professional manner; and directs the entry of receiving and inventory transactions into the MMIS system to ensure accurate accounting, inventory, and departmental expense reporting. Meets the needs of internal customers for the distribution of freight and supplies in a professional, courteous, timely, and efficient manner while maintaining cost-effective practices. Interviews, hires, develops, evaluates, reviews performance, and recommends appropriate merit increases or disciplinary action of the supply and distribution staff. Updates job descriptions and establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures to serve as activity guidelines and to ensure compliance with appropriate interstate commerce regulations and restrictions. Prepares reports (financial, personnel, budgetary), develops long and short-term goals and objectives, while working within a defined budget parameter. Schedules, conducts, and/or participates in departmental and various hospital meetings and committees to provide support, maintain open lines of communication, and solicit ideas for reducing costs and improving efficiencies. Assist various department directors, managers, and supervisors in maintaining a computerized MMIS system to optimize supply availability, inventory turnover rates, and customer service; and coordinate the evaluation of inventory levels within the department and supply carts throughout the facility.
