PART-TIME, $23.00-$25.64/HOUR

SCOPE OF WORK: Provides academic support services to students and assists with the activities of the Student Success Center. This position reports directly to the Academic Success Coordinator at WMCC.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides academic support services to students, such as assessing student needs, developing success plans, academic coaching, and proctoring at the Littleton Academic Center and via Zoom.
  • Teaches students study skills, including the use of relevant technology and research tools.
  • Assists students with the learning and use of college IT platforms such as Canvas and Navigate.
  • Remains familiar with academic resources that are available, such as accessibility services, to connect students with appropriate staff when necessary.
  • Assists Academic Success Coordinator with identifying and reaching out to students in need of academic support.
  • Attends SSC staff meetings, college orientation, and other college meetings as necessary.
  • Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience as a teacher assistant, academic coach/advisor, or related experience.

Or

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience as a teacher, teacher assistant, academic coach/advisor, or related experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong organizational skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Mathematic literacy and proficiency with general research, writing, and study skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Hours may vary depending upon the needs of student(s).

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of office record keeping and reporting. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts and identify existing or potential problems. Ability to contribute to the development of sound operational procedures. Ability to make sound judgment in appraising situations and making routine decisions. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize work and to perform duties in keeping with scheduled deadlines. Ability to meet with students and explain academic programs and processes. Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain confidential information and to handle matters with diplomacy. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as required by the college.
