Title: Associate, Managed Care Operations

Role Description

The Managed Care Operations Associate will immediately become an important contributor to the Oak Street Health team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be self-directed, and enjoy working with a team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, while bringing their experience and innovative ideas. Highly successful candidates will have existing familiarity with managed care systems/processes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support a set of Oak Street Health's relationships with health plans, including contracting, implementation, and ongoing management

  • Communicate effectively and lead meetings with both internal and external leaders, including Divisional Presidents, CFO, CMO, COO, etc.

  • Approach health plan relationships with the mindset of a 'business owner'

    • Project-manage and own issues to resolution

    • Develop opportunities as they arise

    • Express the value that Oak Street delivers for health plan partners  

  • Collaborate with teams across Oak Street, including Finance, Quality, and Business Intelligence, among others - to optimize health plan performance

  • Lead conversations proactively and strategically with Oak Street's field leadership on value-add activities

  • Develop deep understanding of Oak Street financial operations/workflows and key intersection points with health plan processes

  • Analyze financial implications of existing and potential future health plan contracts, quantifying and communicating organizational risks and opportunities to senior leadership

  • Lead health plan implementations ('onboarding') with newly-contracted partners

  • Manage value-add activities with health plans beyond basic issue resolution

  • Proactively develop and share ideas for how to improve existing Oak Street workflows

  • Support delegated activities as required (e.g., identification of business requirements for system implementation, communication with delegated function leaders)

  • Other duties, as assigned

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2-4 years experience working in a healthcare organization, preferably with direct managed care experience

  • Detail-orientation

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to be personable yet persistent

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and impeccable business judgment

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment

  • Ability to independently pursue and implement solutions to complex problems

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • U.S. work authorization
