Job Description

As an Inventory Optimization Project Lead in the Merchandising Function, your main focus will be to support and lead the creation and roll out of local and global projects for Region Americas. You align and execute on stock related strategies connected to future store and online projects from an allocation, replenishment, exit stock planning and new store components perspective. Your main responsibility will be the implementation and roll out of Project One in Canada and Gstore (smart store) for Region Americas from a merchandising point of view. You set and execute on assortment strategy for the Project One scope as well as partnership with Logistics to develop new ways of working. Your role will be in the Regional Demand and Supply and Inventory function but work broadly and have touchpoints with many different functions, both internal and external. In this role, you will work in a high paced and contribution heavy environment and we expect someone that can handle multiple deliverables simultaneous and is ready to contribute on a higher level. 

This role reports into our Inventory Optimization Project Manager and can be based remotely within the USA or Canada. 

This is a 1-year assignment project role. 

A Day in the Life 

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities* 

  • Sales, Merchandising, and Inventory 

  • Know your market: retail situation, inventory, and Logistics operation,  

  • Collaborate with Logistics and Store Operations to secure inventory and sales 

  • Monitor income plans and secure allocation 

  • Analyze and follow up on important KPI´s (Key Performance Indicators) and P&L (Profit & Loss) expectations and create action plans to optimize the results and sales 

  • Take part in developments towards external partners 

  • Draw conclusions on inventory, logistics operation, selling and reduction strategies and secure that learnings are used for planning 

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis 

  • Create, drive and follow-up weekly focus for the project entities 

  • Keep a close communication with all parts of the organization which influence garment distribution 

  • Collaborate with logistics and project teams to secure inventory operations 

 

  • Project One and SmartStore: 

  • Plan store capacity within project scope 

  • Together with project teams secure that relevant assortment is being sent to each entity. Take actions on performing and non-performing inventory (pushes, first allocation, stops, exit strategies etc.) 

  • Set income, allocation & exit strategy plan for project entities 

  • Ability to travel and work closely with store on new project openings 

  • Maintain BOPIS, BOSS settings 

  • Maintain OMNI availability settings 

  • Allocation/ replenishment settings connected to new delivery options 

  • Leading the SmartStore (gStore) development and implementation for merchandising (Higher if we have selected stores open for in-store replenishment) 

  • Merchandising responsible for SmartStore roll-out in Brand city stores and Project One 

  • Capacity management for re-setting SmartStores as well as governing capacity in project stores 

Qualifications

Who You Are:  

  • University degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance or similar 

  •  5+ years of experience within merchandising or a sales function  

  • Experienced in Project Management, business model, and data knowledge 

  • Strong retail knowledge and operational best practices/ routines for physical store 

  • Experience with allocation, replenishment and other inventory management systems is meriting 

  • Eager to transform how we run operations and optimize the supply planning agenda 

  • Strong communication skills toward relevant stakeholders    

  • Strategic and visionary thinking, understands where retail is going and can drive the strategic agenda forward, set vision and enabling business area colleagues
