The Opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Security Officer to join our Firm. Within this position, you will be responsible for patrolling and conducting inspections of all office spaces to assure the safety and security of personnel and property. This position will be based in our New York office and has a part-time, in-office schedule consisting of two shifts: Wednesdays and Fridays 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Additional availability on weekends is a plus.

As the Security Officer you will:

  • Patrol and conduct inspections of the office space; identify and correct any security or fire hazards; lock unlocked and unoccupied offices; open doors at proper times based on operating schedule and ensure that receptionists secure premises at closing.
  • Screen, admit, and direct clients, employees, and visitors entering the workspace.
  • Monitor closed-circuit television and fire-door alarms, responding to fire alarm as needed.
  • Monitor access control system, C-Cure 9000, and respond to any activated alarms.
  • Unlock freight doors and office doors for Firm personnel; record all admissions into offices or secured areas.
  • Monitor use of identification-card readers.
  • Escort terminated employees from Firm premises upon request from Human Resources.
  • Document any unusual situations including accidents, illnesses, criminal activity, and equipment malfunction and forward the reports to Security Management.
  • Engage in special investigations involving misplaced/lost articles within the Firm.
  • Report all unusual occurrences or conditions and any incidences of visitor or employee actions, which could result in injury or loss to the Firm or employees to Director and, if appropriate, to police authorities.
  • Respond quickly to any medical or criminal emergencies; perform emergency first aid as needed; telephone police or emergency medical teams as needed.
  • Transport emergency funds from bank to office.
  • Issue emergency funds to partners and employees during off hours.
  • Take and record car reservations during off hours.
  • Monitor car service dispatch screen and liaise with car vendors to address issues during off hours.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain job related certification including defibrillator training and CPR
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions
  • Ability to stand or sit at work station, and ability to walk, for extended periods of time
  • Ability to exert moderate to high physical energy to ensure quick response to medical or criminal emergencies
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g. SummitLink, C-Cure 9000, Victor, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal courteously/effectively with others
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment

Experience/Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year related experience
  • New York State Security Act certification
