Senior Vice President Hospice Operations

We are seeking a visionary and operationally astute Senior Vice President of  Hospice Operations to lead our North Florida and Alabama hospice locations with strategic clarity, regulatory excellence, and a deep commitment to service. 

Operational Oversight

  • Direct daily operations across 13 hospice locations/clinical offices in North Florida and Alabama, ensuring alignment with VITAS’ mission and CMS regulations.
  • Guide and oversee field executives (VP Operations, Regional Sales and Admissions leaders, and General Managers) in implementing hospice policies and delivering high-quality care.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and lead internal teams focused on continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and manage budgets and strategic plans based on corporate growth objectives.
  • Implement short- and long-term strategies to support hospice growth, operational excellence, and financial performance.
  • Monitor internal and external environments to identify strategic opportunities
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between business units and internal/ external stakeholders
  • Evaluate operational results regularly and report findings appropriately.
  • Ensure responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct reports (Regional Vice President Operations, Regional Head of Sales, and Regional Admissions ) are clearly defined.

Executive Leadership and People Development

  • Lead and mentor senior leaders across operational domains, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and organizational values.
  • Champion growth through structured coaching, succession planning, and leadership pipeline development.
  • Implement initiatives that foster engagement, reduce turnover, and build a culture of trust and high performance.
  • Create environments that promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning at all levels.

Policy and Compliance

  • Develop, document, and implement administrative policies and procedures consistent with statutes, regulations, and Governing Body decisions.
  • Ensure hospice activities comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Oversee the implementation of corporate policies and programs approved by Executive Management.
  • Ensure policies reflect hospice standards in staffing, scheduling, logistics, and financial performance.
  • Promote ongoing improvement in administrative service delivery and company management.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Develop and install procedures and controls to promote effective communication and information flow across the organization.
  • Foster transparency, collaboration, and timely decision-making through structured communication systems.

Governance and External Relations

  • Act as liaison with boards, agencies, and associations as needed.
  • Develop models that align with the hospice’s mission and values, informed by both internal and external assessments.
  • Represent hospice leadership in strategic forums and external partnerships.

Required Experience

  • Healthcare Operations Leadership: Minimum of 10 years in a senior operations role within a healthcare setting ( Home Health or Skilled Nursing). Post-acute care experience is preferred
  • Multi-Site & Multi-State Oversight: Proven experience managing complex, geographically dispersed operations.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional ability to lead cross-functional teams, communicate across levels, and influence outcomes.
  • Business Modeling & Resource Management: Skilled in designing operational models and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated success in driving profitability, performance improvement and process optimization across large- scale healthcare operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other relevant software programs 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
