Roles & Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the IV Sterile Manufacturing area that includes Chemotherapy, TPN and IV preparations as well as the repackaging operation for unit dose dispensing.
· Overall responsibility for the IV Sterile Manufacturing area, with supervision of pharmacy, pharmacy technician staff, interns and students.
· Provides direction and guidance for the safe processing and dispensing of all medications for assigned area.
· Clinical and operational oversight of the Ambulatory Infusion pharmacy workflow
�� Develops and implements systems and procedures for smooth workflow within the pharmacy and assigned areas.
· Orders pharmacy products and supplies according to established procedures, and maintains an inventory of supplies sufficient to meet department demands
· Administers IV staff competencies in accordance with Revised USP 797 and USP 800 standards and documentation via Pharmacy Keeper IV Workflow Software.
· Coordinates biannual IV clean room re-certifications and any follow up remediation strategies
· Hires, evaluates and discharges subordinate staff, and conducts yearly performance appraisals.
· Attends department, local and system meetings as assigned
· Implements, reviews and participates in revision of policies and procedures.
Maintains adequate documentation to satisfy JCAHO or other regulatory agency requirements
· Precepts pharmacy students and residents as assigned
· Ensures the work environment is well-maintained.
· Demonstrates initiative and leadership.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by the director of pharmacy.
Requirements:
- · Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required
- · Current NYS Pharmacist license and registration
- · Hospital pharmacy and/or clinical experience; management experience preferred
- · ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 preferred, but not required
- · Knowledge of Revised USP 797 Chapter strongly preferred
- · Ambulatory Oncology experience preferred
- · Board certification (BCPS, BCCCP) strongly encouraged
- · Knowledge of Epic, PYXIS ES, Pharmacy Keeper strongly desirable
