About the role

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience applying the principles of nuclear safety, radiation protection, and NRC regulations and guidance related to the use of byproduct material. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Broad and extensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of health physics/radiological protection, relevant to the application of NRC rules, policies, procedures, and safety standards for byproduct materials regulation, including using available information and risk insights to support decisions. Broad and extensive knowledge of NRC goals, mission, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the NRC's licensing, inspection and implementation of regulatory programs pertaining to the medical use of byproduct material (e.g., 10 CFR Part 35, Medical Use of Byproduct Material, or related Agreement States medical regulations). Demonstrated ability to perform independent evaluations and reviews of programs, issues, or problems which document program performance, set precedent, or establish policy. Ability to plan, lead, and manage complex projects and assessments involving the development of licensing actions, rulemaking packages, regulatory guidance, Commission policy, or technical reports. Significant experience and skill in written and oral communication to a diverse audience regarding complex technical, policy, and process matters, which includes engagement of varying viewpoints and the ability to develop resolution to issues.
