AWS Infrastructure Security is looking for Software Development Engineers who want to innovate and build tools to drive and improve network security across Amazon’s growing global network. A secure infrastructure is the first line of defense for customer data. Within AWS, the Infrastructure Security Organization continuously improves the security posture of our network. We build software to automatically secure every device and network boundary. We invent, maintain, and operate software for ACL administration, static analysis, review, approval, and response. This is all done at massive scale without interrupting the evolving needs of teams in AWS Networking, Security, and partner service teams across Amazon.
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our growing team. You will partner with other software, network, and security engineers, scientists, and leaders to elevate our software automation and customer tools. You will raise the bar by developing innovative solutions to complicated problems. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling the software solutions that support our customers, configuration management, network automation, and other security detective and preventative mechanisms.
Key job responsibilities
Our team of software developers own front-end, data, and business intelligence built on top of the data which meet the evolving needs of AWS networking, security, and service teams. We have an enduring charter to continuously protect the infrastructure with the latest technology and frameworks available. We ensure the continued security of devices and boundaries. As we update software and build new services, we are thoughtful to reduce potential impact to the smallest possible footprint.

A day in the life
You will own customer and leadership facing services from ideation through development to operation. This begins with working backwards from the customer and a comprehensive understanding of the problem to solve. You will write and review technical designs. You will build services that are highly available, secure, performant, and scalable. Feature delivery is iterative in order to deliver incremental value. You will help drive the code and team towards high standards and best practices. Your leadership team and peers will support your ideas so you will give and receive feedback freely. You understand the importance of operational excellence, including bug fixes and monitoring.
You are sensitive to customer needs and interested in working on services that will be used, directly and indirectly, by them. You will play a pivotal part in shaping the user experience, working closely with customers to understand their journey and refine the interface of our products. Your contributions will be critical in translating complex data into clear insights that align with our strategic goals, helping to steer the direction of our projects. You will bridge raw data and our leadership's vision, ensuring that the solutions developed are data-driven, and align with our users' core needs and our long-term objectives.
