Your team
Reporting to the Compliance Manager – PPB, the Senior Compliance Officer - Oversight (UK&I) is responsible for conducting second line checks of key regulatory Safer Gambling Controls to ensure that the operations team are following agreed processes and that controls are crafted appropriately to mitigate risk.
What you’ll do
- Conducting Regulatory Monitoring checks: You will be required to conduct second line checks to:
Identify failures in the operational team’s adherence to process Identify where the control design is insufficient to mitigate regulatory risk. Where customer impacting errors are identified, immediate action will be taken to remediate issue identified.
- Reporting: You will be required to identify key themes following your checks, ensuring a high quality and accurate monthly report is produced. This report needs to be relevant for senior leadership and operational management. You may be required to produce slides for the monthly Risk and Compliance forum.
- Action Management: You will be responsible for agreeing actions to mitigate risks, logging these within our risk management system and ensuring these are delivered by the business. You will have to assess risk exposure to grade actions/failures.
- Organisation: You will be required to organize, host, and lead actions agreed within monthly regulatory mock assessments across our UKI brands.
- Risk System Development: Alongside BAU, you will own a project to improve our approach to oversight of changes and ensure we accurately capture all key controls, developing our risk management system surecloud.
- Mentoring: You will be required to support and mentor other Compliance Officers should they conduct project work including second line monitoring checks.
- Top Spenders: In time, you will support the Head of Operational Compliance by reviewing top spenders and highlighting key risks within the detail of customer accounts which are discussed in monthly top spenders’ meetings.
How you’ll do it
- Variants of this type of role may be found within Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Risk Assurance or Compliance Monitoring teams. We encourage applications from people with alternative backgrounds where they can demonstrate transferable skills.
- The right candidate will have a good understanding of Risk Management and/or interpreting and applying regulations.
- To be successful it is essential that the individual has great attention to detail and can reliably meet deadlines with a high-quality output.
- The individual will be required to work with a high level of independence, taking full ownership of projects end-to-end.
- The individual will have an ability to build & develop relationships with partners at all levels of the organisation. They will be required to have great communication skills keeping all partners up to date with progress and outcomes. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to influence process change and improvement.
- When providing compliance recommendations, the individual will have the ability to balance the businesses's achievement of its strategic goals whilst also considering compliance responsibilities. The successful candidate will be able to see a recommendation through to delivery, with the support of the wider compliance team.
- The individual may on occasion be required to support the wider team in their tasks and responsibilities.
- Acting as a role model to junior team members, always maintaining a calm & professional attitude.
