Principal Scientist III - Synthetic Chemist - FSP

The Principal Scientist II or III – Synthetic Chemist is a laboratory-based role which supports process development through organic synthesis including synthetic methodology, catalysis, and / or total synthesis.

Key Accountabilities:

• Synthesizes and purifies target compounds

• Performs analytical characterization of target compounds by highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometry (MS), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy

• Uses design of experiments (DOE)

• Characterizes processes

• Maintains accurate documentation and records

• Complies with required training curricula

• Completes timesheets accurately as required

• Submits expense reports as required • Updates CV as required

• Maintains a working knowledge of and complies with Parexel processes, GLP, GMP, GxP and other applicable regulatory/scientific requirements

Skills:

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

• Proficient in written and spoken English, is required

Experience:

• Significant experience in synthesis, purification and analytical characterization including HPLC, MS, and NMR

• DOE design and process characterization

• Experience in organic chemistry, organic synthesis, methodology/catalysis (including chemocatalysis, biocatalysis and heterogeneous catalysis), total synthesis, physical organic chemistry, or flow chemistry

• Proven track record of solving problems

Education:

Principal Scientst III

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline with more than 12 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline with more than 12 years of experience; or a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry or a related discipline with 3 or more years of experience
