Summary

The intern will work closely with the Forecasting and Load Research team to perform research related to electricity demand in support of SRP’s corporate energy forecast. Additionally, the intern will be expected to fill analytical roles in partnership with various departments across the organization. Utilizing their analytical, statistical, and programming skills, the intern will collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets in order to develop and recommend data-driven solutions to business challenges. A strong understanding of statistical modeling, data analysis and experimental design is desired. Projects may include programming, data mining, model development, visualization, and reporting/presenting findings.

• The internship is in Tempe, AZ and will be a mix of in-person and remote based work
• Professionalism, punctuality and a service and team-oriented attitude are required
• Perform self-driven research projects to further understand electricity demand in conjunction with resident SRP experts
• Strong problem-solving skills with a drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
• Comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams
• Strong programming and data management skills, with experience in mathematical and statistical modeling highly regarded
• Visualization experience with Excel, Tableau or Power BI is desired
• Experience with Python or R is desired
• Experience with SQL Server databases, T-SQL queries and data transformation is desired
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

What It Takes To Succeed

•  Degree major in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a relevant field is preferred.
• Graduate Degree preferred.
• Applicant must be enrolled and attending a minimum of six (6) college credits per semester (100 or higher-level courses).
• Internship can be on a part or full-time basis to accommodate class schedules. Initial posting is for the Summer Semester (May – August), with opportunity to renew the posting through the summer and beyond with strong performance.
• Pay rate is $18.75 per hour for an undergraduate intern and $20.80 per hour for a graduate intern.  

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
