Position Summary:
Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing. Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens. Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned. Oversees Front Office functions and ensures appropriate response to all phlebotomy requests during assigned shift. Assists in organization and storage of all Laboratory phlebotomy and office consumables. Performs and fulfills all HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) responsibilities as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency/disaster.
- Performs routine technical and clerical functions. Independently coordinates requests for phlebotomy services.
- Performs all necessary computer functions relating to specimen receipt, test ordering, and result printing.
- Performs filing, organizing, charting, and report delivery functions.
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Completion of Phlebotomy Program
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 6 months of clinical experience.
Preferred: Above plus basic laboratory computer/laboratory information system experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:
Minimum: Not required
Preferred: Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certification or National Phlebotomy Certification
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer knowledge/experience
Excellent customer service skills
