Essential Duties and Responsibilities:                             

This position is responsible for the strategy and execution of data management and programming processes in the Inflexxion Health Analytics department. The primary responsibilities are SAS programming, managing, organizing, analyzing, storing, and monitoring the data, including the oversight of related policies and procedures. The Data Manager/SAS Programmer must be an excellent communicator with a detail-oriented, methodical, experienced and flexible approach to this work. Successful candidates will have a significant degree of prior experience preparing large sets of epidemiologic data for use by researchers across a variety of settings and agencies. The Data Manager/SAS Programmer will work closely with the Chief Science Officer, Senior Epidemiologist, Associate Research Director and other Health Analytics senior researchers (e.g., epidemiologists, biostatisticians) to provide input on the design and specified analyses for epidemiologic investigations as well as assist with the development and execution of study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and the analysis and provision of data for client deliverables and scientific reports. The Data Manager/SAS Programmer is responsible for the oversight of a peer-programming data validation process which may involve working with a contract agency. This position serves as a liaison for Health Analytics with other departments within Uprise Health regarding overall data quality, security and automation processes.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain and manage all datasets in the Health Analytics Department, including external data streams
  • Provide strategic direction for data management of Inflexxion-owned datasets, as well as other project-based datasets, including but not limited to architecture, migration, organization, extraction and creation of analysis datasets.
  • Prepare datasets and related documentation including coding manuals and quality control records for ongoing projects and regulatory submissions
  • Write SAS code to create, clean and lock datasets, and to manipulate and transform data according to analysis plans/specifications provided by epidemiologists and biostatisticians for surveillance reporting, surveys, grant projects, client deliverables, scientific papers and other assignments
  • Conduct data quality verification checks on datasets prior to analysis
  • Create standards and best practices for data management and programming to meet the needs of the Health Analytics Department and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Define and anticipate processes for databases/datasets creation and maintenance to maximize multipurpose uses
  • Communicate regularly with team members about work status and project progress
  • Assist in development, documentation and implementation of work instructions to ensure integrity of department data management and associated datasets
  • Analyze current and projected future database performance requirements; fine-tune or recommend equipment/software changes when necessary
  • Participate actively as a team member on company committees specifically addressing data integrity and database quality improvements
  • Collaborate with the Uprise Health Team to write specifications for data variable definitions, content of analysis datasets and data acquisition from all proprietary data streams and assist in problem solving data discrepancies within datasets
  • Interact with technical support team and vendors to schedule upgrades, modifications, and required maintenance to software and to prevent system failures
