MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Chemotherapy Infusion Pharmacist is responsible for providing dedicated pharmacy support to the Outpatient Infusion Center, with a primary focus on medication order verification, sterile compounding oversight, and dispensing of chemotherapy and infusion therapies. This role emphasizes pharmacy operations and safety processes while providing limited but essential clinical support such as medication management, supportive care, patient education, and collaboration with infusion staff and oncologists. The pharmacist ensures high standards of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all aspects of infusion pharmacy services, while serving as the pharmacy liaison to the infusion center team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
- Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent 2 years relevant hospital pharmacy experience, hospital/infusion experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years hospital pharmacy or infusion pharmacy experience preferred.
- Experience with chemotherapy order verification, sterile compounding, and USP <797>/<800> compliance strongly preferred.
Certification/ Licensure:
- Pharmacist license NJ required.
- BLS required
