Job Summary:

The FoodWIse Nutrition Coordinator will be located in Vernon, Richland or Crawford Counties and will primarily serve these three counties and surrounding communities. This role is housed in the Health & Well-Being Institute (https://extension.wisc.edu/health/) within UW-Madison's Division of Extension (https://extension.wisc.edu/). The Health & Well-Being Institute works to catalyze positive change in Wisconsin residents through evidence-based and community-engaged health promotion programs to improve health, build community capacity to identify and address health inequities, engage in collective action, and achieve greater health equity.

The FoodWIse program (https://healthyliving.extension.wisc.edu/programs/foodwise/) advances healthy eating habits, active lifestyles, and healthy community environments for families with limited incomes through nutrition education at the individual, community, and systems levels. FoodWIse is federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) grants.

The Nutrition Coordinator is an integral member of the Crawford, Richland, Vernon FoodWIse team. Nutrition Coordinators are responsible for staff training and supervision, program planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting, and developing and managing the local program budget. The Nutrition Coordinator works closely with nutrition educators and partner agencies to plan and implement interventions that improve healthy food access and make healthy food and physical activity choices practical and available to community members with limited income. This position has a bilingual preferred qualification, which means a bilingual skillset is desired to bolster programming initiatives but is not required. A bilingual title designation and unique responsibility will be added to the final position description if the final candidate passes the language proficiency assessment. Bilingual candidates must state their interest in applying for the bilingual title designation within their application. This will notify the hiring committee to evaluate your level of language proficiency as a part of the interview process.

Responsibilities:

Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 5% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 10% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 10% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • 15% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and studen
