Purpose

The Director of the Archer Fellowship Program provides strategic leadership and fosters campus-wide collaboration to support and enhance UT Austin’s participation in the undergraduate Archer Fellowship Program, reinforcing the university’s commitment to educating the next generation of leaders for local, state, federal, and international service. The Director works in cooperation with the  UT System Archer Center, the UT Austin Faculty Director, and the Graduate Archer Fellowship Program Campus Coordinator to align with the overall goals for the program that are established by the UT System and the Archer Center. This position reports directly to the Provost.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Provide strategic leadership to socialize, grow, and advance the undergraduate Archer Fellowship Program at UT Austin. Represent the program in the Provost’s Office portfolio to align with and integrate into the student experience. Partner with the UT Austin Archer Fellowship Program Faculty Director to align the program’s academic components with the university’s academic standards and criteria. Partner with the University Development Office and the Provost’s Office to explore funding and financial support for selected Archer Fellows. Provide strategic leadership for the UT System’s public service programmatic expansion efforts, including the implementation and growth of the Texas Legislative Fellowship Program, to broaden student access to experiential learning and civic engagement opportunities.

  • Relationship Management: Engage campus partners across the University’s colleges and schools to share program information and updates, enabling administrators to effectively promote the opportunity and ensure student representation from all areas of campus. Work with campus partners across the university to identify barriers to participation and provide strategic leadership on addressing these barriers (academic, scheduling, enrollment, funding, etc.). Work in coordination with the Archer Center and the UT Austin Archer Fellowship Faculty Director to identify and invite campus leadership to serve on the UT Austin Selection Advisory Committee. Facilitate meetings between administrators and undergraduate Archer Fellows after program completion to share their professional, research, and academic experiences. Cultivate and sustain relationships with UT Austin Archer Fellow alumni, strengthening ties between current Fellows and a 25-year alumni network committed to public service. Engage previous Archer Fellows and the broader UT Austin alumni community (Texas Exes) to develop strategic partnerships and strengthen the program’s stakeholder network.
