About the role

Description

The Department of Geology & Environmental Geosciences at Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning July 1, 2025.  We seek a teacher-scholar geologist with expertise in oceanography, paleoclimate, climate change, or related fields.  The successful candidate will teach across the curriculum, including developing an introductory-level geology course and upper-level geology courses in the area of the candidate’s expertise, and participation in the College’s interdisciplinary programs and common course of study curriculum.  The teaching load is 2/2 in the first year, and 3/2 thereafter. 

The Department of Geology & Environmental Geosciences is interested in building a culturally diverse intellectual community and strongly encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds and with interest in and/or experience working in collaborative interdisciplinary settings to apply.  Applicants must have a strong interest in teaching undergraduates, a record of scholarly productivity, and plans for establishing and maintaining an active research program involving undergraduates.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant field; we will consider well-qualified applicants who will have completed all the requirements for their Ph.D. prior to August 15, 2025.
