Job Description:
This position will support government accounts. Therefore, due to federal export-control regulations, the selected candidate must hold U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent resident/Green Card status or otherwise have a category of refugee/asylee status enabling them to perform the role without requiring a license under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
HPE Labs seeks a talented, enthusiastic individual to work as a laboratory manager to supervise the planning, operation and maintenance of a research clean room and associated analytical and test instruments. This person will report to the Operations Manager for HPE Labs, and work directly with researchers to understand their equipment and clean room needs.
Roles & Responsibilities
Supervise the planning, operation and maintenance of the HPE Labs Milpitas site Class 100 cleanroom, cleanroom tools, associated test and analytics instruments and other laboratory environments.
This person will:
- Be familiar with cleanroom resource management: materials, chemicals and safety protection
- Recommend new instrumentation for acquisition and installation; maintain existing equipment through service contracts or using internal resources
- Work with corporate facilities personnel to ensure that infrastructure is operating properly
- Interface with HPE health and safety and with corporate security personnel to maintain a safe working environment; participate in the HPE Labs safety groups; have a leadership role in cleanroom tool and safety training.
- Work with the fire department and other local government entities to obtain permits for equipment and operations as needed.
- Provide after hours emergency response coverage, shared with others on the team.
- Act as champion of prescribed safety rules and regulations to maintain high quality standards and a safe environment in the cleanroom. Accurate record keeping of instrument maintenance and repair logs is expected.
- HPE Labs cleanroom and physical environments may become a shared-use facility. Collaboration with Labs personnel and users of other companies to achieve objectives and enhance service quality is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years working experience in cleanroom environments is required.
- Hands-on experience required, working in class 1 to 1000 Clean Room 60-80% of the time.
- Laboratory experience and customer service experience are desirable. The candidate should be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn on the job as needs arise, to succeed, and to further develop intellectual and practical professional skills.
- Ability to work well in teams, and to adopt and enforce safe working practices is essential.
