Facility Helper Job Description

 

Facility Helpers may perform the following limited duties without direct supervision of the Facility Supervisor, Assistant Facility Supervisor, or Facility Technician:

 

• General handyman work that requires the use of hand tools.
• Maintains lighting fixtures by replacing lights, ballasts, drivers, etc.
• Limited plumbing maintenance of non-energized toilet facilities, sinks, and soap dispensers.
• Using a plunger and an auger to clear drains.
• Replacing lights and cleaning associated light fixtures.
• Replacing ceiling tiles that do not have penetrations from electrical or fire life safety equipment.
• Repairs of flooring.
• Repairs on furniture with wood glue and clamps.
• Inspecting and replacing fire extinguishers.
• Inspecting and replacing air filters.
• Cleaning the facility space includes mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, shop space, and roof drains, air vents, registers, and radiators.
• Using a vacuum, mop, broom, floor scrubber, waxer, steam cleaner, high pressure spray cleaner, as well as other cleaning devices and equipment.
• Painting the facility space includes mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, and shop space.
• Painting non-operating mechanical equipment that has been shut down, locked out, and tagged out by a Facility Technician per the Safety Lockout Program.
• Hanging pictures by using applicable tools.
• Cleaning and repairing registers and radiators.
• Cleaning, stacking, and sorting materials are used in and around the job site.
• Using a company vehicle to pick up parts and supplies.
• Following all lockout tagout procedures and working through job safety analysis forms appropriately.
• Clean and maintain perimeter induction units.
• Replace and maintain door hardware.
• Repair or replace blinds.

Work beyond the skillset of the Facility Helper needs to be supervised by the Facility Supervisor, Assistant Facility Supervisor, or a Facility Technician.
