Technical Skills
- Possess strong knowledge of MGA/program market and competitive landscape
- Exhibit solid expertise in all aspects of workers compensation insurance including not limiting underwriting, risk selection, pricing, coverage, policy issuance, claims handing, and loss control.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills by leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to drive decision- making and portfolio optimization.
- Exhibit strong communication and influence management skills.
- Adapt, learn quickly, and respond effectively to the fast-pace working environment.
- Be creative, demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, and possess negotiation acumen.
What you'll be doing:
Program Management & Governance
- Responsible for developing and implementing business plans for the assigned programs to achieve premium growth, rate, and profitability targets.
- Manage underwriting referrals and monitor PA’s compliance with underwriting guideline
- Leverage monthly program PowerBI dashboard to monitor program performance.
- Monitor claims frequency and severity and incorporate key learnings into the underwriting process
- Validate premium booking and work with internal stakeholders to address any operational issues.
- Conduct program underwriting audits
Underwriting Expertise
- Exercise prudent underwriting judgement and perform underwriting duties consistently
- Manage allocation and corporate resources to achieve the largest impact on business
- Monitor market development and competitive environment and collect market intel
- Develop a deep knowledge base regarding key program-specific coverage issues and claims development
Program Relationship
- Work effectively with program administrators to achieve common goals and actively resolve conflict.
- Build deep and collaborative relationships to be their advocate and at the same time, having the ability to say no.
- Be a program spoke person and prepare and deliver relevant programs related proposals
- Serve as relationship manager and get involved in business development with PAs to develop, foster, and grow successful partnerships.
- Leverage expertise in pricing, risk, and product selection to develop solutions for clients that meet or exceed their expectations while achieving our business goals.
Teamwork & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Product Line Leadership, and Program Managers in their review and due diligence of new Program opportunities.
- Support the collaboration and efficient integration of the newly approved programs
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure the successful operation of the assigned programs.
What were looking for:
- Minimum of 20 years of P&C underwriting experience especially workers' compensation insurance.
- Over 10 years of experience managing delegated authority business
- Insurance designations (i.e., CPCU, ARe, CPK) preferred
- College degree required
- Ability to travel 25% required when appropriate
