Position Overview

Under direction of the Manager/Assistant Manager of Security Operations, plans, directs, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of security personnel. Performs a wide variety of administrative and technical tasks. Provides armed protection of corporate property, personnel and visitors against illegal entry, theft, vandalism, safety hazards and fire. Assist with running the daily operations of the Security Department.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides direct assistance to the Managers of Security Operations in performing work of a specialized and administrative nature.
• Manages communications for emergency and non emergency calls for service.
• Provides leadership, mentoring, coaching and education to develop and maintain an effective, well trained staff based on performance standards.
• Provide direct assistance to the Assistant Manager of Security Operations in matters pertaining to weigh scale operations as required.
• Reviews incident reports, required forms, and related documents prepared by subordinates to ensure accuracy and timely completion, corrects or instructs officers to make corrections.
• Recommends and assists in the implementation of department goals and objectives.
• May investigate complaints regarding the conduct of officers, assists department leadership in the disciplinary process and staff performance appraisals.
• Communicates and coordinates with other departments and employees in matters concerning weigh scale operations when required.
• Notifies, assists, and directs external and internal first responders, responds to requests from law enforcement and other outside agencies as needed.
• Prepares logs and reports, documents daily activities.
• Patrols grounds and parking areas by vehicle and on foot, observes employees, contractors and visitors.
• Identifies vehicles parked in violation of law or company policy and takes corrective action.
• Conducts preliminary investigations and prepares reports concerning personal injury, property damage, theft, or describing problems or incidents.
• Works in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
• If certified as a Breath Alcohol Technician, BAT, may be required to perform evidential breath alcohol testing in the absence of trained medical personnel.
• May be required to transport employees to and from hospital for non emergent care.
• Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.

Attends training and other required company functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Education: Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D certificate supplemented by additional college level coursework and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, emergency management and/or a related field; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and training.
• Experience: Five (5) years security, military, emergency management, law enforcement and/or other equivalent experience. Minimum of one-year supervisory and training experience in law enforcement, security and/or related field; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. Knowledge and experience with security systems, cameras and other security programs and equipment strongly preferred.
• Successful completion of employment background check and medical screening.
• Has or is able to obtain Level III Commissioned Security Officer license.
• Strong knowledge of Security Operations policy and procedures.
