Tax Consultant (JD) (Summer 2026)

Work you'll do

As a Tax Consultant, Core Tax on the Deloitte Tax team, you will be responsible for:

• Researching tax law and supporting strategic tax planning through technical memoranda, written analyses, and other tax-related deliverables
• Assisting with audit defense activities, including responses to tax authority inquiries and preparation of issue responses and appeal materials
• Preparing business and individual federal, state, and other tax returns and forms
• Supporting income tax provision work under Accounting Standards Codification 740 (ASC 740) and assisting with tax provision reviews
• Analyzing tax implications, developing recommendations, and supporting multiple client engagements across public and private companies

Qualifications

Required:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree
• Minimum grade point average of 3.0
• Eligibility to sit for the bar exam before beginning full-time employment
• Ability to perform job responsibilities in a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
• Ability to travel 20-50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
• Start date for this position will be in Summer 2026
• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or business administration
• Prior internship, summer associate, or other work experience in tax, accounting, or legal services

This compensation range is specific to New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $54,160 to $99,600.
