The Youth Stream is a dedicated resource within the CYMHS extended programs that aims to assist young people to bridge the gap between child and adolescent, and adult services. The team seeks to improve mental health understanding for individuals and orients young people to services within their community.

The Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Specialist - Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) is an advanced role that provides specialist nursing care and education to patients and their families and clinical leadership to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist with experience in mental health assessment, complex care coordination, and trauma-informed individual therapies. Knowledge and experience working in mental health services with young people would be ideal. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach, trauma-informed therapy, and experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Undertakes the delivery of specialist services to clients of CYMHS based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.  
  • Provides clinical leadership and expert knowledge in all aspects of primary health care.
  • Administers an advanced clinical practice framework for the management of clients with complex needs.
  • Within the multi-disciplinary team, develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates programs and activities to improve client outcomes.
  • Provides liaison and consolation to key youth stakeholders to optimise and support service provision.

You will need

  1. Extensive experience in and demonstrated specialist level/clinical knowledge of mental health nursing in a clinical area directly applicable to the CYMHS area, including the ability to provide appropriate assessment of mental health problems.
  2. Proven ability to provide a range of assessments and therapeutic interventions relevant to young people accessing services and the ability to acquire further expertise in this area.
  3. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of other services and agencies in the context of providing specialist mental health assessment, advice and training.

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
