This job provides strategic leadership and oversight for quality, patient safety, infection prevention and control, regulatory readiness, and performance improvement initiatives across Ochsner Children’s sites of care, including pediatric acute care, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, and pediatric ambulatory clinics. Collaborates closely with senior leadership, medical staff, and operational leaders to implement effective quality and safety practices that improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, and family-centered care. Responsible for maintaining contemporary and emerging knowledge of evidence-based, best practices for children’s quality and patient safety, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and leading initiatives aligned with national pediatric quality collaboratives and benchmarking standards.Job Profile: System Assistant Vice President – Pediatric Quality and Safety
Job Profile Summary: This job provides strategic leadership and oversight for quality, patient safety, infection prevention and control, regulatory readiness, and performance improvement initiatives across Ochsner Children’s sites of care, including pediatric acute care, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, and pediatric ambulatory clinics. Collaborates closely with senior leadership, medical staff, and operational leaders to implement effective quality and safety practices that improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, and family-centered care. Responsible for maintaining contemporary and emerging knowledge of evidence-based, best practices for children’s quality and patient safety, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and leading initiatives aligned with national pediatric quality collaboratives and benchmarking standards.
Education: Required – Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, quality, or related healthcare field.
Work Experience: Required – Minimum of 7 years healthcare experience in quality, safety, or performance improvement, including pediatric experience and 5 years in leadership. Preferred knowledge of and involvement with national pediatric quality collaboratives, such as Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) and Children’s Hospital Association databases like Inpatient Essentials and/or Pediatric Health Information System.
Certifications: Required – Professional certification in one or more: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), or Certified Professional in Human Factors in Healthcare (CPHFH). (Or obtained within 1 year)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA).
- Strong understanding of regulatory and accreditation standards in pediatric healthcare.
- Proven ability to effectively analyze data, identify trends, and implement solutions to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated history of strong physician collaboration and ability to drive system change.
Job Duties:
- In collaboration with the Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer assess quality and patient safety activities at all sites of children’s care. Design and build an integrated reporting and oversight model for Ochsner Children’s quality and patient safety.
- Develops and implements strategic initiatives to enhance quality and patient safety in the pediatric care setting aligned with Ochsner Children’s ’s strategic goals and organizational values.
