Project Manager, Sun Life International
Job Summary:
At Sun Life International, we partner closely with SL Hong Kong and SL Singapore to provide products and services that deliver long term financial security to Clients in the High Net Worth market globally. Through innovation and collaboration, we strive to continually find new and better ways to bring value to our clients and Sun Life. As a Project Manager in Un Life International, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, managing, and implementing projects in support of International HuBS’ business plans and goals.
The Project Manager role has a direct responsibility for complete life cycle management and accountability of project initiatives assigned, ensuring compliance to SL project management policies, standards and procedures. The role has a direct reporting relationship to AVP, Head of HR in Sun Life International, and works on projects assigned with a matrix management model.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary project manager for all aspects of the change management plan to support the successful delivery of Project Harmony for SL International HuBS.
- Conduct proactive stakeholder identification and management through-out the project lifecycle to provide regular updates and ensure continual engagement and efficient decision making.
- Contact, liaise and follow up with key stakeholders and project team members (in HR, Communications and within the workstreams) to build momentum and drive execution of deliverables within agreed timelines.
- Build and maintain deep knowledge of the project workstreams to inform and evolve the Change Plan. Monitor progress, present ideas and suggest remedial actions to support the successful execution of the change plan and Project Harmony.
- Recognising the importance of their role as part of the change management plan, leverage the Project Harmony Executive Program Leader, Program Lead, President of International HuBS and business CEO’s as key change agents to the successful execution of the project.
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence to identify concerns, resistors & challenges within the project, and suggest remedial action &/or interventions to overcome these issues.
- Oversee the successful execution of the change management plan by providing clear direction and motivation to project team members on their deliverables
- Successfully manage project changes, risks, issues and actions
- Leverage best PM practice standards and processes to monitor progress against milestones and provide updates & report outs on the Change Plan to the Steering Committee and Project Team
- Develop detailed work plans and project schedules for the Change Plan
- Undertake duties of a general nature as may be required from time to time by Management.
Preferred Skills:
- Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of senior executives, sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
- Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
- Solid influencing and negotiation skills
- More than five years of Project Management experience in multi-national organisations and 10 years in roles requiring significant leadership skills
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision (verbal & written)
- Observe and suggest continuous improvements to the project management practice
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a wide range of tasks
Qualifications:
- PMP certification or equivalent
- University degree or equivalent
- Familiarity with insurance and finance industry
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology
