CDL Truck Driver – Heavy Equipment Transport

Love hauling big iron and getting equipment where it needs to go? We’re hiring a motivated, experienced CDL Truck Driver – Heavy Equipment Transport to join our Des Moines Shop team at Martin Marietta. In this role, you’ll be responsible for transporting heavy and oversized equipment safely and efficiently across our operations mostly in Iowa and Nebraska depending on the job. This position requires the ability to rig, climb, and properly tie down equipment from lowboy and flatbed trailers. Some travel may exceed one week, though this is limited. 1. Transport heavy, oversized equipment in compliance with DOT regulations
2. Load, rig, secure, and unload equipment using proper techniques
3. Must be able to or willing to learn to operate all other mobile equipment, examples include: haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader, crane, etc.
4. Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment
5. Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment and truck 

Required Education and Experience

1. High school degree
2. Class A CDL
3. Hazmat Endorsement

Preferred Education and Experience

1. 3 - 5 years of experience with oversized loads
2. Heavy equipment operations

Work EnvironmentThis position frequently operates in an underground or surface mine setting and will frequently operate heavy equipment. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
