Responsible for the provision and administration of specific rehab treatments under the direct supervision of the delegating rehab professional (PT, PTA, OT, COTA, ST). The Rehab Aide, as directed and supervised by the rehab professional, assists with the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Rehab Aide also participates in operational aspects of the department, including, but not limited to, scheduling patients, registering patients, answering phones, cleaning rooms, stocking rooms, ordering supplies, and participating in Performance Improvement activities.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Responsible for providing specific treatment only as directed by the supervising rehab professional.
- Ability to monitor vital signs, maintain adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for patients undergoing physical medicine services and treatments.
- Performs clerical duties to include greeting and scheduling & registering patients, insurance verification/prior authorizations, answering phones, etc.
- Maintains patient medical record forms, evaluations, educational handout distribution material, assists in record keeping of patient files, invoicing, and claims billing.
- Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to supervising therapist, nursing, and other hospital/nursing home personnel as appropriate.
- Orders, stocks, and maintains accurate records of supplies & equipment.
- Transports patients according to scheduled appointment time, maintains compliance with safety policies during transport at all times.
- Prepares and cleans the treatment area for patient use at all times. Performs final cleaning at the close of the department, in preparation for the first morning patient.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities; manages up to other departments.
- Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services. Assists with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members, participates in guidance and educational programs.
- Cleans & documents proper maintenance and daily temperatures per regulations for hydrocollator, freezer, frig, etc.
Education/Experience:
- High School graduate or GED certification preferred.
- Current CNA licensure required.
- Previous clerical experience preferred.
- Current BCLS (or obtain within first 30 days) required.
