Design Assistant (1.STATE Team in NYC)

Our Company:  BCI Brands designs, sources, and markets nationally and internationally an extensive range of women's career, casual sportswear, and dresses. Their products are sold through all primary retail distribution levels principally under various trademarks and under private label brand names.

We are looking for a Design Assistant to join our 1.STATE team. This is a full-time position that requires you to be in the office 5 days a week. This role is great for someone looking to grow their design career as we offer many advancement opportunities for the right candidate.

 Key Responsibilities: 

• Setting up and managing all data entry of styles to Exenta
• Using Procreate to update and CAD sketches (something we can teach you)
• Updating development boards and overviews to be used both internally and for our sales team
• Setting up for meetings, presentations, and shoots
• Maintaining and organized sketch and print archive for each season
• Creating and overseeing design sample charts, internally and to the customer.  Sending and tracking all samples to customer.     
• Working with designer to source trim and fabric for the collection 
• Setting up initial tech packs (designer handles most specs, but there is room for growth in this area if you are skilled with specs)
• Attending all meetings and fittings to take notes and help where needed 
• Ability to communicate/articulate design information to other teams internally

Requirements

• Must have a degree in fashion design 
• 1-2 years experience in fashion industry 
• Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Procreate
• Excellent time management skills 
• Ability to multi-task with many assignments at once 
• Adherence to strict deadlines
• A great attitude for working in a team oriented environment
• A go-getter with the ability and motivation to work unsupervised when necessary

Please note: the salary range for this role is offered at a rate of $22-30/hour.
