Job purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join our HVBOX group, where we develop state of the art automotive high voltage OnBoard Chargers and DCDC converters.
This intern will be provided with opportunities that will help gain hands-on power electronics development experience in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Key responsibilities
Intern will work closely with a mentor, supporting development process activities on production-intent projects. Activities include:
Identification of key metrics of OBCs and DCDC converters
Electrical analysis and simulation of power electronic circuits
Performing failure mode analysis on power converters
Debugging and troubleshooting of HVBOX prototypes
Bench testing
Data analysis and report generation
Benchmarking of OBCs and DCDC converters
Support of other xEV power electronics activities
Additional engineering activities as needed
What we’re looking for
Pursuing bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university with GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B average), at time of hire
Ability to read/draw electrical schematics
Familiarity with electrical circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice, PLECs, MATLAB/Simulink
Knowledge of DC circuits, AC circuits, semiconductors, linear regulators, operational amplifiers and filters.
Understanding of basic power converters such as Buck, Boost and Flyback
Understanding of basic microprocessor hardware interfaces
Proficiency with electrical laboratory equipment such as Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-meters, etc
Familiarity with electronics testing, debugging, soldering and circuit modifications
