Description

The Revenue Cycle Business Partner serves as the central point of communication, coordination, and collaboration between multiple departments across Emory Healthcare under the leadership of the Director of Patient Financial Services.

This role is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and optimizing processes related to registration, pre-authorization, coding, billing, collections, reimbursement, and financial analysis to enhance revenue generation and cash collections while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, analytical capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end revenue cycle.

The Revenue Cycle Business Partner oversees the full revenue cycle process—from patient scheduling through final payment—while monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing strategies to improve operational efficiency and maximize collections.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Cycle Oversight

  • Oversee the entire revenue cycle process from patient scheduling and registration through final payment and reimbursement.

  • Review and assess processes related to pre-authorization, coding, billing, collections, and reimbursement to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Implement strategies that improve operational efficiency and maximize revenue collections.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a strategic partner to operational leaders across Emory Healthcare.

  • Foster strong relationships and collaboration with providers, section leaders, department colleagues, and staff.

  • Act as a liaison between operational, financial, and technical teams to ensure alignment and effective revenue cycle operations.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze revenue cycle performance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for optimization.

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue cycle performance.

  • Prepare financial and operational reports for senior leadership to support decision-making.

Systems Optimization

  • Partner with the Information Technology (IT) department to optimize revenue cycle management systems.

  • Support integration and functionality of revenue cycle software across clinical and financial platforms.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance system efficiency and improve data reporting capabilities.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and mentor staff within the revenue cycle team.

  • Provide ongoing training, development, and professional growth opportunities.

  • Manage staff performance and support operational excellence within the department.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, billing requirements, and reimbursement guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to mitigate revenue cycle risks and maintain regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor operations to ensure accurate billing and coding practices.

  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and advise leadership on necessary operational adjustments.

Revenue Optimization & Process Improvement

  • Lead revenue optimization initiatives to improve financial performance and operational workflows.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to streamline departmental processes and improve the patient financial experience.

  • Identify and implement process improvements across the revenue cycle to enhance service quality and financial outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

AND one of the following:

  • 10 years of healthcare experience, OR

  • 8 y
