The Director, R&D on the Platform team oversees and directs the activities of research and development of products across the entire Natera portfolio touching all major business units. In addition to individual products, there is a strong focus on core technical infrastructure and capabilities that will allow improvements to existing products as well as more effective launch of new products and features. The ideal candidate will have strong skills and experience in the areas of molecular biology, NGS, assay/methods development, and implementation in a regulated clinical environment.
More generally:
The Director selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Conducts and collaborates with others on basic research and development relevant to long-term objectives. Writes and reviews manuscripts for publication. Develops strategies to ensure effective achievement of company objectives. Monitors and evaluates completion of tasks and projects. May develop budgets for capital expenditures and labor. Typically collaborates with other managers to establish company policies. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages a group of scientists or R&D managers.
- May have subordinate supervisors.
- Establishes operational objectives and work plans. Delegates assignments to subordinates.
- Involved in developing, modifying and executing Research and Development projects that have company-wide effect.
- Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing.
- Responsible for execution of R&D projects with extensive planning WRT time, resources, and budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s and a minimum of 10 years of experience; Master’s or PhD preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a management capacity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated leadership in building and managing a team to meet specific goals.
- Proven ability to manage product development through Research and Development phases to hand off.
- Strong ability to dive into and understand experiment planning and results.
- Effective communication and collaboration with other teams

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.Remote - USA$212,300—$235,000 USD
