PPCCC is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 28,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.
 

JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Health Educator is responsible for implementation of the assigned region’s community education programs and activities that can include education and training, outreach, and other community services and programs. The Community Health Educator is an integral part of the Community Engagement Department. This is a hybrid position based out of the Thousand Oaks Health Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Implement affiliate’s approved evidence-based, evidence-informed, and internally developed sexual health and life skills education programming with fidelity in English and Spanish
  • Schedule and deliver medically-accurate, inclusive, and developmentally-, culturally, and linguistically-appropriate sexual health education to groups of varying ages, cultures, and backgrounds, with increased focus on youth in low resource communities
  • Aid in the development and updating of curricula and community resources under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Education
  • Promote awareness of the availability of reproductive and sexual health services at local Family PACT health centers, including Planned Parenthood, and make appropriate referrals
  • Participate in evaluation and data tracking activities that assess the quality of programming, measure impact, and contribute to grant reporting requirements
  • In conjunction with the Philanthropy Department and the Director of Education, develop and prepare narrative sections of grant proposals and reports as assigned
  • Attend Community Engagement Department and affiliate-wide trainings and meetings, which may be held anywhere within the affiliate’s 3-county service area
  • Serve on department- or affiliate-wide task forces or work groups to improve policies, practices or systems essential to effective operations as needed
  • Attend local, regional, and national events, meetings, and networks as assigned
  • Work with any assigned volunteers and interns, as well as support the Education and Community Engagement teams as needed
  • Cooperate with quality assurance activities related to the implementation of the affiliate’s education and outreach programs
  • Prepare and submit payroll timesheets, expense, mileage, and community engagement reports in a timely manner as instructed
  • Adhere to Planned Parenthood California Central Coast policies, procedures and protocols.
