The Graphic Designer will play a key role in supporting WashU McKelvey Engineering's marketing and communications initiatives by creating visually engaging and on-brand designs. Working closely with the Senior Graphic Designer, the designer will contribute to a wide variety of projects, including print publications, websites, social media, digital signs, promotional products and other communications while adhering to standards and guidelines.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Conceptualize, design, and produce visually compelling materials for print, digital, social media, and web platforms, including brochures, flyers, banners, email and website graphics. Ensure that all designs align with the university’s brand guidelines, maintaining consistency across all communications materials and platforms.
Work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer, the Director of Communications and Marketing, writers and other team members to develop creative concepts and solutions that support strategic communication goals.
Communicate directly with campus partners and stakeholders to ensure all projects are completed on time and on-budget. Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders to refine designs, ensuring accurate and high-quality end products.
Prepare design files for production, ensuring they meet specifications for print and digital formats, and coordinate with printers and external vendors.
Maintain organized files and documentation and photography for design projects according to office standards, ensuring easy accessibility and version control.
When needed, shoot and edit photographs for school-level marketing and communications projects and provide art direction to outside vendors such as freelance illustrators and photographers.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
- Three years’ design experience.
- Previous work experience in higher education, non-profits or science-related industries.
- Portfolio that showcases thoughtful design with a sophisticated aesthetic; strong ability to execute tasks; expertise in typography; and a keen eye for photography/illustration and use of color.
- Print production experience.
- Strong project-management skills and a proven track record of success in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to problem-solve and find multiple design solutions especially under narrow parameters and budget constraints.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently, juggling multiple projects at the same time, many with aggressive deadlines.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a professional manner.
- Excellent customer service skills.
