SPECIAL NOTES:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional requirements:
- Collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be willing to travel, when necessary, within the state of Florida and occasionally overnight on short notice
Preferences:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Further preference will be given if the degree is in insurance or risk management.
- Writing reports, memorandums, and/or work emails.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the insurance industry or for a regulatory body approving applications for licensure is PREFERRED. It is not necessary that the regulatory experience be in insurance.
- Applicants who are fluent in English and Spanish.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Florida Statutes, board and department rules governing licensure and regulation, and consumer protection.
- Knowledge of educational programs.
- Knowledge of techniques for handling complaints and dealing with the public.
- Ability to prepare reports.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to train others.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, policies and procedures regarding licensure and regulation of professionals, and consumer protection.
- Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
- Ability to compile, organize and analyze data.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Employment starts at the base salary of $44,125.20.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Prepares correspondence as necessary for processing insurance licensing applications or in response to requests from applicants, licensees, or other individuals regarding licensure requirements.
Analyzes education training required for pre-licensing requirements to qualify applicants for examinations.
Conducts special reviews and evaluations of applicants, with or without criminal history or administrative action, to determine eligibility for licensure in accordance with well-established and accepted practices as defined by Florida Statutes, rules, department policies, and procedures.
Conducts special analyses of court documents and other legal documents related to criminal history and administrative action, then prepares summary reports noting a recommendation to grant with disciplinary action, or that includes reference between violation and Florida law as justification for the rec
