About the role

The Team:

The Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and Newborn Services and Children's Critical Care within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all babies and children requiring intensive care in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Area:

  • The Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU) in the new K Block campus of the RHH boasts a contemporary single room design across SCN, HDU, NICU & PICU
  • The unit consists of 28 beds focussed on providing families with a true Family Integrated Care Model of Care.

The Role:

The Registered Nurse strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.

You will need 

  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills and the ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting.
  • Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development.

Details of appointment:

Multiple permanent full time or part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

Eligibility:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
