Position Summary:
The Seasonal Assistant will support the operations and guest services at Trinity River Audubon Center (TRAC) including admissions, Nature Store sales, membership sales and visitor and volunteer assistance. The Seasonal Assistant will work in the Center and provide excellent customer service by eagerly welcoming each visitor with information about TRAC with warmth and kindness.
This is a part-time seasonal position, working up to 25 hours per week, from April 2025 through June 2025.
This is an on-site position based at Trinity River Audubon Center at 6500 Great Trinity Forest Way and weekends will be required.
Compensation:
$16.00 - $17.00 / hour
Additional Job Description
Essential Functions
Deliver excellent customer service, contributing to a welcoming environment for all guests, visitors, members, volunteers, and event attendees coming through the Center.
Support retail operations throughout the Center.
Proactively assesses visitor needs.
Answer the Center’s main phone line and expedites calls to appropriate departments or staff members.
Handle difficult situations with tact and respect and reports all issues to the Supervisor.
Provide up-to-date information to visitors regarding special events and programs.
Develop an understanding of the ecology and natural history of Trinity River Audubon Center.
Responsible for processing all cash and credit card transactions.
Assist with special events.
Assist with end-of-day facility closure by clearing the grounds and boardwalk to ensure all visitors are safely exited.
Maintains and fosters culture of safety.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
GED or high school diploma preferred and 1-2 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Experience in customer service, retail, or administrative support role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be eager to learn and share knowledge with others.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, potentially noisy environment.
Must work well in a team and professionally represent Audubon to the public and volunteers.
Able to follow directions and work autonomously.
Ability to quickly learn a point of sale/ticketing database.
Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
Computer experience and high comfort level with technology, including Outlook and other web-based applications.

Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and on occasion traverse at least 3 miles in a variety of weather conditions with or without accommodation.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
