Summary

 

The Director of Electronic Security Systems will lead the strategy, development, and execution of the company’s electronic security solutions practice, with a primary focus on serving U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. This role requires deep expertise in security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated security solutions that meet stringent government security requirements. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, ensure compliance with federal security standards, and expand business opportunities within classified and high-security environments, both nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Electronic Security Systems (ESS) practice, aligning with federal and defense-sector priorities and aligning with overall business goals.
• Identify emerging security threats, technologies, and regulatory changes impacting DoD and IC security environments.
• Lead the expansion of the practice by identifying and securing new opportunities within the DoD and IC sectors, leveraging existing contract vehicles and partnerships.
• Collaborate with business development, capture, and proposal teams to pursue and win government contracts for security solutions.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create go-to-market strategies for security solutions.
• Develop project cost models for estimating and competitive bidding which are specific to DoD and IC customer’s classified, high-security environments.

 

Technology & Solution Development

• Oversee the design, implementation, and sustainment of electronic security systems that comply with government requirements, including SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) security standards.
• Drive innovation in security technology by integrating advanced capabilities such as biometric authentication, cloud-based security solutions, and cybersecurity-enhanced physical security.
• Establish best practices for system design, deployment, standards compliance, and lifecycle management in classified and high-security environments.
• Provide full-spectrum ESS subject matter expertise to guide DoD and IC customers regarding requirements development, budgetary estimating, scheduling, regulatory dependencies, and accreditation process.

 

Operations & Project Management

• Manage the execution of security system projects for DoD and IC customers, ensuring timely delivery, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to standardize security system operations across classified government facilities and secure installations.
• Provide resource planning and implementation in support of successful project and program delivery.
• Oversee subcontractor and vendor relationships to ensure adherence to federal security standards and operational requirements, including contract development and negotiations.

 

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure all security systems meet or exceed government security standards, including DoD UFC 4-010-01 (Minimum Antiterrorism Standards), ICD 705 (SCIF construction), UL 2050 (National Industrial Security Systems), NIST SP 800-53 (Security Controls for Federal Information Systems), DoE O 473.1A (Department of Energy Physical Protection Program), HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive), and FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards).
• Work closely with government security officers, accreditation authorities, and compliance teams to ensure system approval and certification.
• Stay current on changes to federal security regulations, including those from DCSA, NSA, and other regulatory bodies, and implement necessary adjustments.
