About the role

Description

Position Summary

The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing global procurement activities that support both tactical execution and strategic initiatives. This role serves as a key liaison between suppliers and internal departments, ensuring optimal supplier performance, cost management, and inventory control. The position may also provide leadership and mentorship to junior purchasing staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement and order management to drive operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and purchase order data in ERP; manage updates and resolve supply disruptions.
  • Analyze material costs, investigate variances, and implement cost management strategies.
  • Support and lead supplier negotiations, including mitigation of cost increases and risk.
  • Manage supplier performance recovery and participate in internal and external business reviews.
  • Execute supplier readiness plans for new product introductions in collaboration with R&D and operations.
  • Drive supply chain optimization initiatives to improve material flow and eliminate waste.
  • Mentor buyers and inventory team members; support their training and development.
  • Optimize inventory turns by negotiating minimum order quantities (MOQs) and aligning with business forecasts.
  • Support End-of-Life (EOL) processes and initiatives to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Handle supplier receipt exceptions and coordinate returns of rejected, surplus, or obsolete materials.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships.
  • Analyze existing procurement processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

 Tools & Equipment Used

  • Computers, printers, standard office, and ERP software.

Work Environment

  • 90% Office (low noise)
  • 10% Manufacturing (clean environment, PPE including safety glasses required)

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Syteline 8.02 preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to lead vendor meetings and drive discussions.
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Travel: Up to 10% (local supplier visits).
  • Physical: Ability to lift 25–50 lbs. for short periods.
