Position Title: Asset Specialist (Diesel Mechanic)   

Position Reports To: VP, Asset Management

Position Summary

Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered forklifts and industrial air compressors.

Process, reconcile, and report on captured inventory data so the organization may effectively and efficiently make informed decisions regarding Asset Management. Specialist will also support day-to-day operations as it relates to the utilization and maintenance of software-based inventory processes.

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot and repair Cummins engines, including fuel systems, turbochargers, emissions systems, and electronic controls.

  • Inspect, test, and maintain hydraulic systems, pneumatic components, and mechanical assemblies.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance schedules and maintain accurate service records.

  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify engine and system faults. Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.

  • Collaborate with operations and safety teams to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and company standards.

  • Manage software programs, including but not limited to Quantify, to maintain an accurate inventory of company owned assets.

  • Provide centralized administrative support to yards and customer sites. Maintain asset inventory through system-based reconciliation processes.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with Cummins engines and industrial equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools (e.g., Cummins INSITE, multimeters, scan tools).

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.

  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card

  • Promotes safety throughout every aspect of the role.

  • Proficient in the full Microsoft Office Suite

  • Customer service mindset.

  • Ability to work effectively on cross-functional team initiatives.

  • Ability to multi-task to manage multiple, overlapping, competing priorities.

  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing conditions.

Work Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds in an industrial environment.

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

  • Some travel required.
