A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as a Sr. Director Strategy and Transformation, you will report to the GM/VP of Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) within Neuromodulation (NM). You will support business development initiatives as well as manage the global marketing strategy, portfolio, and prioritization processes.
A Day in the Life
- Collaborate with executive leaders to define and execute long-term strategies for the Neuromodulation division and effectively prioritize and drive trade off decisions
- Support and lead NM new business development activities to expand market share and enhance product portfolio, e.g.: tech scouting, due diligence, acquisition, integration, and transactional partnerships
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance our digital presence, engage our customers, and drive business growth
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Additional Responsibilities
- Conducts executive strategy meetings, e.g. Investment Review Board (IRB) meetings and helps leaders make trade-off decisions which have major long-term impact on the success, failure, profitability, and growth of the business unit
- Possesses management authority to make significant business and strategic decisions including control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices
- Builds, mentors, and leads a high-performing global team by fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Must Haves
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience within the medical device or healthcare industry with 10+ years of managerial experience
- Experience with business development—from due diligence, acquisition through integration
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills. Proven record of driving business growth and innovation.
- Analytical thinker who can create innovative approaches to the market
- People leadership skills to develop, motivate, and retain talent during a time of significant organizational change
- Ability to influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation on divergent objectives
- A proven record of driving business growth globally, through exceptional leadership, performance accountability, culture, and execution
- Strong business acumen and business planning analysis – strategic planning, financial analysis, marketing planning. Ability to communicate business vision and align the organization to it.
- Effectively communicates both written and verbal at all levels in an organization, externally and with diverse groups. Position requires excellent poise and confidence when interacting with physicians, patients, sales, across organizational functions and senior leadership. Ability to summarize complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively with sales & marketing management as well as other functions including, regulatory, clinical, quality, reimbursement, research and development, manufacturing, finance, human resources, information technology and legal
- Proven record to work independently, while achieving aggressive personal and geographic objectives. Highly motivated, “can do” attitude with strong influence management skills
- Exceptionally customer-focus; develops strong working relationships and networks across specialties and geographies
- Proven history of good judgment. Demonstrated integrity and respect of peers and broader team
- Must embody the Medtronic Leadership Expectations
- Global travel – position is expected to travel extensively and attend all major customer/scientific venues (estimated ~up to 25%)
